Uuuuurrrgh. I have no self control! My eating habits have been really bad for the past couple days as I adjust to my new schedule. I’m fine in the morning – coffee, skim milk and Equal with a piece of fruit and one slice of whole grain toast with peanut butter. Since I was hungry yesterday by 9am, I had two slices this morning. I’m drinking lots of water (not unusual) and have packed a lunch. Today I packed a pear along with my sandwich. But by the time I get home, I’m ravished. I came home today and had a handful of almonds and some water, then had the rest of the polenta and beans in a wrap, then a handful of potato chips. I know it doesn’t sound like it, but that’s a lot of food for the afternoon.
So to make up for it, I’m going to do some chapters of reading and then an hour on the elliptical instead of my usual 30 minutes. Meanwhile, I think I’m going to start eating oatmeal and/or more fruit or something for breakfast because I can’t keep myself full for long enough.

It sounds like you need more protein and fiber earlier in the day. Maybe try some oatmeal in the morning and include some nuts or lean meat in your lunch. It should help keep you fuller for longer.

From Bobbi: That’s what I thought, too. I’ve got regular oatmeal in my pantry but I use that for baking, so once I get back to the grocery store I’m going to pick up some flavored oatmeal. The only problem is, I tend to eat different things every day for breakfast just because I get bored easily. Feel free to send me more ideas!
