I haven’t talked about my diet and exercise in awhile. Well, I’m not dieting. I’m changing my eating habits and turning them into lifestyle changes. Trying, at least.
My goal is to get down to between 120 and 130 lbs. I read in Dr. Oz’s You On A Diet that you should give yourself a range of weight to lose, not a specific number. That way you can allow for certain fluctuations and all of that. So far, I’m down about 7-8 lbs. Not bad! My bigger goal than the weight loss is to make these changes long term. I’m really good at sticking to my work out for a few days; but when life gets in the way, exercise is the first thing that is thrown to the wayside. One good thing? I have a $500 elliptical staring me down whenever I’m downstairs. The damn thing can’t talk and yet it can guilt me into using it!
Since starting pilates (15-22 minutes a day, and yes I’m particular about how long) I’ve noticed my tummy getting a little bit “poofier” as I like to call it. I know, I know – you aren’t supposed to do “core work” if you have a layer of fat over your abs, otherwise your tummy will get “poofier!” But I loooooove my pilates. It relaxes, stretches, and feels so good when I’m finished. I also feel like it helps me even more with motivation while on the elliptical.
After finishing the Dr. Oz book a couple nights ago, I decided that I could add the 20 minutes workout to my current regimen. I bought a pilates mat (one of the pilates move was killing my tailbone on the carpet since we have like no padding) on Saturday, and as soon as I got home today I used it. Yay for Bobbi!
I don’t know what made me want to walk home from class today, but I did. Usually, I have excuses: “It’s too hot” or “I’m not wearing good shoes” or “I don’t want to sweat today.” I made it home in about a half hour (which meant no elliptical necessary), did pilates and the 20 minute workout.
Honestly, I’m so proud. Some of you may be thinking, “Good job, want a cookie? Big whoop!” But for me, staying motivated is difficult. Not only have I been extremely motivated lately, but I’ve outdone my personal expectations.
Off to make my healthy dinner, and do some homework. It’s been a great day!
