Acne Cures
I need some ideas for acne cures.
Back in high school, I went through two rounds of Accutane and then was completely blemish-free for several years. Every now and then I get little pimples, but I don’t mind them. Lately, however, my face has broken out around my chin and mouth. It’s cystic acne, too; the kind I had to get on Accutane for.
I’m currently taking an antibiotic that my dermotologist gave me about a year ago for such occasions; however, I’d like to take something more natural. Do any of you use anything that works particularly well for you? If so, what is it? If you have any tips, share them, because I don’t want to have to do anything drastic because of acne!

I have never really had issues with acne until I’m pregnant… and then all those little boogers come out of no where & attack! I wish you the best of luck in finding something natural to help you cure your acne… and when you do- please share! :)
I’ve heard toothpaste works for acne. I had friends say it works.
I don’t have any suggestions but I really hope it goes away soon :(
I have had acne since I was a teen, so I know a thing or two in this area… When I was younger, my parents paid to send me to a dermatologist who gave me antibiotics and a prescription face gel. I quit taking the antibiotics in college, when I developed a really bad case of semi-antibiotic-resistant bronchitis.
Anyway, so right now I’m on a rather tight budget and seeing a dermatologist is not really an option. I use johnson&johnson’s clean&clear with benzoyl peroxide every day. (check the package- some types of c&c have the benzoyl peroxide but others don’t.) Be warned, though, that stuff can bleach your towels, esp. if they are blue or green. I also alternate periodically with Biore-something-or-other face wash with salicylic acid so my skin doesn’t get too accustomed to one product.
My sister used to work at the Body Shop and bought me a couple packages of tea tree oil face wash (with a significant discount). That stuff is wonderful- perfect for taking off makeup at the end of the day. It’s expensive though, and I’m almost out, so I don’t know what I will replace it with.
Since stopping my BC (I have no reason to use it now!) I’m having the same problem as you. I am going to go out later and buy a pumice stone. I also have been using an astringent.
Try keeping your face really, clean (use an antibacterial soap to wash with) and try to exfoliate at least 3 times a week to remove dead skin that can cause pores.
I would never use Accutane or Sotret just because of the guidelines that go with it! You know that kid who flew that plane into the Bank of America building in Tampa a few years ago? That’s what he was on!
I ALWAYS had problems with acne. Throughout middle school, high school, and afterwards (even now sometimes, and I’m 25). I tried a ton of different things to try and clear it up. Unfortunately I don’t have any natural remedies for it, but I did go to this spa once to get a facial directed towards improving acne problems… They had me try this line of skinwashes called Dermalogica, and seriously? Even STRANGERS were commenting on how nice my skin was! I have a few flare ups here and there (like around that time of the month), but it’s nothing like it used to be!
Good luck, though. I know how absolutely annoying acne problems can be.
P.S. I have read that witch hazel is good for acne. As is Vitamin E. And also Flax Seed Oil (a vitamin pill) is supposed to be really good, too. My husband swears by it.
