Political Request

I try my best to not speak about politics on my website, simply because a) I know sparking a debate involving the topic can get ugly, and b) I believe that people are entitled to their own opinions and to vote for whomever they choose best fits the bill.  I’m not out to change anyone’s minds, because (as I think I’ve mentioned before), the best part about being American is that we CAN vote however we want, even if we do disagree with each other.

However, I will say this.  I’m speaking specifically for people in my age group - those voting for the first time in a presidential election - please be informed before you go into your local polling center.  And don’t just pick up the newspaper the day before you cast your vote.  Research your candidate online and use resources that are pro-your party and against your party.  Be aware that major smearing is going on and that not everything you hear or read is true.  The best thing you can do for the future of your country is to vote, but unless you are informed, I don’t think it’s right to vote for a candidate that is going to run the country when you don’t know anything about them, their proposed policies, or their backgrounds.

One particular web site I can recommend is RealClearPolitics.com.  Whether Democrat or Republican, please, hear my message: be informed before you vote!

I’m getting off the soap box now….

Edit: I would like to note that I’m in no way advertising for any particular web site.  I am just so sick of hearing people around me (in my classes, etc.) talking about politics when it is very apparent they don’t know anything that’s going on!

well a lot happened where i cannot vote. i tried to register in georgia, but somehow, i’m already registered in kentucky and i didn’t know that. i didn’t know when you got your license that they registered you? so it was too late for me to get an absentee ballot and blah blah blah. oh well, i’m still pulling for obama. my hubby voted for him. but they also told him his vote will only count in certain situations. whatever those certain situations are..we’ll never know. it seems kind of fishy doesn’t it?
