I thought I was going to get away without catching a cold this winter, but then I got a slight tickle in my throat on Friday evening. Saturday I woke up with a slightly stuffy nose and a worse sore throat. By Sunday, I felt like death warmed over. I had to drive home to go to a doctor’s appointment yesterday, and I felt so much better. I thought maybe the cold would be short and over by today! All last night, though, I was awake coughing, blowing my nose, and being angry at whoever gave me this stupid cold.

I’m a big baby when I’m sick. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m tough, but the minute I can’t breathe through my nose, I turn into the whiniest (is that a word?) baby you’ve ever seen. A sleepless night + blowing my nose + feeling like death warmed over = no classes for me today. Instead, I’m going to use today to study for an exam I have on Thursday, drop prescriptions off at Walmart and do a tiny bit of laundry.

The biggest annoyance with this cold is that I want to go to the gym so badly, but I’m just not up to it. I know there are differing views out there on whether you can exercise during a cold or not, but I’d just prefer to rest up and feel better so that when I do head back to the gym tomorrow or Thursday I’ll be back at 100%.

Speaking of the gym, I want to get one of those talking watches so that I know how long I’ve been at the gym. The gym I go to doesn’t have clocks on the wall and it drives me crazy!

Yes, I realize this is almost a week late. I’m sorry! I’ve been uber busy with Christmas stuff, finals, and enjoying my time off. I’ve done a little bit of extra eating, too, which hasn’t helped with my Shrinking Jeans/WW goals. When I weighed myself on Wednesday, I was back at 180. Right on the dot. -Gulp!-

I haven’t exercised. I haven’t been logging in what I eat throughout the day. I’ve been drinking water, but not like I should be. So I’m owning up to my (bad) behavior right now and vowing to do better.

I’m not going to lie. It’s hard because I’m baking cookies to give to family and friends. On the upside, I’ve got lots of cleaning and laundry which means a couple activity points for today. I will also try to take the dogs in our neighbor’s backyard later and run around with them.

So yeah. Sorry for the delayed post. I guess part of the reason why I kept putting it off was because I’m disappointed in myself. These are the times when I seriously consider taking diet pills because I get so frustrated with myself and lose motivation. But! The negative thinking stops here.

I was born at 1:37am and for the past five years or so I’ve woken up at exactly that time on my birthday. This year, I managed to sleep right through it until 6:00am, when Tom woke up.

He finally came to get me (with the help of the dogs) at 8:00am because he was so excited that it was my birthday! He brought me a birthday card about farting (boys…) and it was even signed by Hunter, Remington and Romeo (and Tom of course). It was really cute. I’ll have to take pictures of the written part from each animal because … well, the little sayings speak for themselves.

Tom was nice enough to make me french toast for breakfast, which he has never done before. It turned out really great, and I was pleasantly surprised because he never tries to cook! Next we lounged around watching Food Network and reading the newspaper (well, I was cutting coupons, my usual Sunday activity). We ended up taking the dogs to the park for about an hour which was fun. Hunter does this thing where he digs and flings the dirt to Remington, who stands directly behind him (and ends up laying down in the dirt). Cute, but dirty!

After the dog park, we came home to pick up a friend so we could go to brunch. I had the filet mignon and omelette with four(?) mimosas. They were small, don’t worry! But sooo delicious. We were absolutely stuffed but still wanted to try and find a bookcase. The one we had out in the living room was seriously about to collapse. We didn’t find one, but I did find a couple books at the Homegoods store. I always end up buying something from there, I love it so much!

We just vegged out after we got back and did a really easy shrimp dinner; nothing fancy. And, we were in bed by 9:00pm because I had a headache and was exhausted from getting up at 8:00am (I know, sad)!

The best part about the day wasn’t actually my birthday, it was the day before. We went to a jeweler in the mall to look at engagement rings. Without either one of us knowing it, the conversation got pretty serious, and next thing we know, we’re in the diamond room looking at a diamond through a microscope. We were at the jewelers for over an hour and the guy put the ring on hold for us. We got home and talked and talked about everything engagement, and I found out that it is definitely going to be before January 1. Now you know why the day before my birthday is a day I’ll never forget!

I thought about doing a video like Jordan did, but when I made one it looked retarded. Maybe another time! Instead, I’ll post some pictures fresh off my camera:

My criminal law test went pretty well today. I don’t feel bad about it at all. I should get the grade back tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Totally not worried about it, though.

I have about an hour to study for my Private Security test (which is tomorrow) before I have to hop in the shower and prepare for my LSAT prep class, which is tonight from 6-10p. Then, I’ll probably come home and study a little more before I go to bed around 11. Lately I have not been getting nearly enough sleep, but I kind of enjoy being up a little later and getting more done. I have the rest of my life to sleep – that’s my logic, at least.

The Kentucky game is this weekend and I’m contemplating selling my ticket, but then again I might not, who knows. I kind of don’t want to go so I can just RELAX at home. It’s a 12:30p game, so no tailgating (way too early for alcohol) and I’ll be exhausted and unable to do anything for the rest of the day anyway. I’ll decide after I see where our seats are located in the stadium.

Speaking of tailgating, the LSU game ended up being pretty ridiculous. If there was an award for most drunk during a football game and it came with big football trophies, I can almost guarantee that I’d win it for the last game. I’m not going to go into any more detail, except to say that I am DONE with tequila. It gets you into trouble, that’s for sure.

I’ve still not heard anything from Dell. I can’t exactly say that I’m surprised because the level of service I’ve received in the last week has been anything but satisfactory. I mean yes, my laptop is functional, but if we’re paying for a warranty, things should get fixed not only in a timely manner, but also when Dell promises they will be fixed. I just sent an email off regarding the problem, so we’ll see what happens.

Back to studying for meee :)

I have not been feeling myself lately. Each morning, I wake up with a slightly stuffy nose and a sinus headache. I think it might be allergies; where we live now is a lot more dense because of trees. I’ve also been having a constant feeling of fatigue and upset stomach. It’s not nausea, it just hurts and hurts.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m the type of person who hops online when I am worried about a particular symptom I have. For instance, I was worried about PMS because well, let’s just put it this way – I’m a LOT bitchier than I normally am! According to a few web sites I’ve found, this could be due to low progesterone levels in my body. Honestly, though, I think it has to do with not getting enough sleep at night and being stressed about some issues that have been going on in my life lately.

Tonight I am going to get a really good night’s sleep and get a lot done tomorrow. I’m determined to stop feeling so crappy!

Call me a nerd, a loser, or antisocial, but here’s how my ideal night goes: a glass of wine, my favorite music playing, and NO ONE ELSE AROUND. I’m in the computer room surfing and relaxing; Romeo’s peering over at me from his side of the desk. It’s peaceful and quiet and I’m in an awfully good mood. Tonight is a friend’s going away/birthday party, but I’m feeling like I’m starting to catch a cold, so I’m staying in (which is why I’m surprised I’m in such a good mood).

The past few days I have felt absolutely exhausted and I don’t know why. I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary. I guess my body really is trying to fight off the cold that hasn’t even begun yet.

I restarted my Sparkpeople weight loss information and printed out the grocery list so I can stick to the recommended meal plans. That’s something I’ve never taken advantage of. Most of what was on there seemed delicious, so I don’t think I’ll have a problem. I also got reacquainted with the Normal Eating Support Group (here) because I’m trying desperately to stop my emotional eating habits. Things with that are on the up-and-up.

Tomorrow morning I get to sit through two hours of a baptist service for my sign language class. Hopefully it goes by fast. I’m bummed that I have to get up early but I can always come home and take a nap. It’s better than going to Jehovah’s Witness or the Pentecostal church (totally not knocking them, but personally, I can’t stand those services).

I’m going to go curl up with a book. The thing is, I have no idea which book to read next. Maybe the Shrink Yourself! book I bought awhile ago.

*Sigh* I’m bored today. I woke up, got online, went through my dailes, email etc. There’s really nothing to pack at this point (with the exception of the last minute stuff). I just made muffins the other day and don’t want the sweets around because I WILL eat them. Tom and I are going to play tennis tonight and will probably watch a movie or something after that. I finished Deception Point and am onto a book written about a murder from back home (my mom had it and gave it to me because I studied the murder trial in high school). I could’ve gone to work today, but bleh. I kind of feel like I did a couple summers ago when I was depressed – not feeling like doing anything, bored, sad, and completely unmotivated to get stuff done.

I have been looking for yellow labrador puppies in our area on and off today. We found a couple purebreds that the guy is offering, so we’ll probably drive down there tomorrow to check them out. Who knows, maybe we’ll end up with a puppy :) He’s only got boys that are not currently neutered, but Tom’s mom is going to help us out with that. It’ll be nice to have another addition to our little family!

I’m going to put some dishes away and see if I can’t find some packing that needs to get done around here. Do you guys have any exciting plans for the weekend?

Tom is sound asleep on the couch. Despite the fact that he and I slept until almost noon today, he’s been asleep for almost an hour. I played some Zelda on Wii but got frustrated, which is why I’m here now. I want to go upstairs and settle in for the night, but then again, I don’t.

I really didn’t do anything today. Tom packed a box (all our DVDs, DVD player, and a few other items) and I used up the rest of our potatoes to make yummy french fries to eat during the baseball game that we were watching. Oh yeah, and we puppy-sat for a couple hours. I guess it’s just been a slow weekend. We were invited to a friend’s house for ribs and stuff, but neither of us felt like showering and getting ready. We’ve been spending a ton of time with this particular group of friends – don’t get me wrong, I love every minute of it – but sometimes it’s just nice to stay home.

Tomorrow, we’ve got grocery shopping, lots of laundry, homework, and beginning to figure out how I’m going to pay for another LSAT class. Speaking of which, I didn’t do nearly as well as I wanted to. Guess who will be sitting for the October 2008 exam? Yes, that’s me. I’m really okay with it though. Well, I’m trying to be okay with it. I don’t have much of a choice, right? Right.

What a rambling, crazy post I just made. Oh well. I guess I have lots on my mind right now. Not necessarily bad stuff, just…. lots to think about.

I can’t believe I made it through this week and last week unscathed. I could very well end up with 3 A’s and a B for this semester; all that work and site-ignoring paid off! When it comes to school, I’m always so motivated, and I’ve always been that way. Honestly, though, I am starting to feel a burn out coming, so the two week break before summer semester is welcomed.

Ever since I signed a lease for a 2/2 earlier in the week, I have been “mentally moved out” of my current apartment. I’ve mentally decided how my kitchen will be arranged, and can just picture coming home to Romeo and a puppy. By the way, a visitor asked what type of puppy we’re going to get. Tom has always wanted to get a yellow lab, and since this puppy is his college graduation present (from last August – it couldn’t happen any sooner because of our current apartment), he gets his wish. Plus, I’ve always wanted a big dog. I grew up with some shih tzus and a cocker spaniel, so a yellow lab will be different.

I don’t know how many of you follow my Twitter, but within a couple hours of taking my white collar crime final this morning, I was bored out of my mind. I didn’t want to read (been doing that ALL WEEK to an extreme). I played Mario Kart Wii for a total of four races and that didn’t cut it. I reformatted my mp3 player because it crapped out yesterday, which took a matter of minutes. Then I played with themes and decided on this one (isn’t it pretty? I love the colors). Romeo’s been sleeping all day and Tom doesn’t get back until a little later. Plus, I haven’t really been in the mood to hang out. I think I’m just so excited about moving out now that I actually KNOW where I’m going that I can’t stand to be in the apartment anymore.

Speaking of the apartment, it looks like a tornado came through here because I haven’t really had time to pick up. I try my best to make everything look nice (not perfect, just livable) before Tom comes home. That’s just an example of a trait that I got from my mom – my knack for cleanliness and organization!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Tom’s gone again until Wednesday evening. There was a time in our relationship when time would drag on and I would hate being away from him. Now, I love our time apart. Don’t get me wrong – I miss him very much when he’s away – but I’ve learned to love my “me” time and enjoy having the apartment to myself (and Romeo of course).

I came home from work today and realized I had left the coffee pot on this morning! The apartment smelled like that yucky, burnt coffee smell. My mom suggested baking soda and hot water to soak the burnt coffee off the bottom of the pot, which worked quickly and VERY well. I didn’t even have to scrub the pot that much, to my surprise! So, when I made potatoes and left the oven on while I was eating (I’m a clutz today!) and found them caked onto the pot, I used it again – same results! I decided to hop online and see how else I could use baking soda, since it’s such an effective cleaner. It turns out it’s just as useful as vinegar and water. This is just one of the many articles I found when I searched for baking soda ideas.

Alright, I have to get my butt in gear and get started on this research paper. I’m going to write until 10pm or 2 pages, whichever comes first. I may even try for three – I’m feeling ambitious tonight!
