The LSAT is over …. can you imagine my excitement!? No more LSAT prep, logic games, or having freak out sessions. I’m actually looking forward to finishing my applications and writing my personal statement (which is an entire story by itself).

Unfortunately, though, I’ve got a paper and a journal assignment to write before tomorrow. So despite the fact that I WANT to blog and tell you all about how the LSAT went and how relieved I am, it has to wait until I finish these assignments. The good news is that I’m almost finished with the paper. I just need to tie up some loose ends.

Also, I’m still doing WW/SOTSJ but doing pretty bad with eating at this point. I’ll blog about that too, promise.

Oooh! And I’ll be 22 in five days!

I got busy yesterday and didn’t get a chance to post for The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans December Challenge. Sorry it’s late!

As I posted yesterday, I joined Weight Watchers. My starting weight was 180.6. Unfortunately, I weighed myself after breakfast but remembered before I showered! My first goal is to lose 10% of my body weight – meaning a goal of 162 lbs. I think it’ll be difficult with my birthday, Christmas, Virginia trip and the break coming up, but I know I can do it. I hate the feeling I get when I’m absolutely stuffed, so I try to avoid it at all costs – as much as I love eating all the holiday food my family and friends make!

I didn’t manage to work in any exercise yesterday, but I will be getting on the elliptical and the Wii Fit this afternoon. I am hoping to get the dogs to the park as well. It’s always really fun for me because I run around with them, throw a stick or ball, etc. I’ve also got some cleaning and laundry to do which is still considered movement!

Yesterday I had a glass of wine after dinner, nachos (lots of lettuce and tomato) with dinner, half of a chicken BLT and water instead of iced tea. I also opted out of the Baskin Robbins ice cream we all stopped for after dinner.

Today, I had the left over chicken BLT sandwich for a late breakfast (I woke up at 10am) and three York peppermint patties. As soon as those are gone I’m not going to be buying anymore. They’re really bad for my weight!

I’m also still only on my first bottle of water today, but with working out and stuff that’ll be different by this evening. I’m actually halfway through my last LSAT diagnostic test and since every second is precious, I don’t bother sipping water (yes I take it that seriously).

I’m really looking forward to this journey. And, I encourage you to join me at The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans! You don’t have to have any specific weight loss plan, it’s just there for motivation and accountability. There are weekly weigh ins on Wednesday, but you only have to post on Wednesday and link back to them with your weekly weigh in weight. You don’t necessarily have to actually weigh in on Wednesday.

I’m off to permalink this post over there, browse some sites, and check on the dogs before I finish the last two sections of the LSAT. I’m loving all the comments lately, thanks guys!

While reading Jen’s blog, I felt this little urge deep inside me to reinstate my Weight Watchers subscription. After thinking about it for a few days, I think I’m going to go ahead and do it. I found a coupon online that saved me an extra $10 off of a three month subscription and this is going to be my Christmas/birthday present to myself.

I also joined The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans. They’re the other reason why I decided to sign up for Weight Watchers again. I realized that I didn’t have a real plan as to diet and exercise and hadn’t for awhile. That’s not good, especially with me being as busy as I am!

I started out with the Flex Plan on Weight Watchers and am allowed to have 25 points a day, 35 a week. When I was on Weight Watchers before I believe I started out with 25/35 as well, so this won’t be too difficult. The most difficult part of this will be watching what I eat and drink over the holidays, exercising despite the craziness, and drinking enough water (which is always hard for me even though I don’t mind it). Come March 3, I hope to have lost 10% of my current body weight and will continue (successfully) from there!

I spent an hour watching a lecture about a games problem set for the LSAT, so now I’m breaking it up with beginning my risk assessment that is due next week. I’m doing it on my apartment complex since I wasn’t able to find a local company that was willing to let me do a research project on their security breaches/problems that need to be addressed. I can’t wait until this class is over!

I also wanted to say thank you to San for sending me an email about my protected post. I wouldn’t have known that comments were down on that layout had she not emailed me! I also appreciated her kind words and good luck wishes on Saturday. She’s a sweet girl, you should go check our her blog. The protected post is still up (and comments are now enabled), so head on over and read it.

Also, you should check out Jordan’s blog because she is my hostee! Her blog cracks me up and I love how much she shares about her relationship with the Red Baron. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, get over there and read on!

What to talk about, what to talk about….

* We got our utility bill in the mail yesterday. It is nearly $100 cheaper than last month’s bill because we haven’t been running our AC or heat at all. It’s supposed to creep up to the 80s this week but I refuse to turn the AC on after seeing that bill!

* Took an LSAT practice test on Sunday. I did one point higher than my previous high score. This makes me want to really buckle down and get my act in gear. I can do well if I keep trying and working my butt off!

* My mom got a call from my uncle. We hadn’t heard from my other uncle (their brother) in a few years, and they just “had a feeling” that he was dead. I did some investigating online and came up with an accurate address and phone number for him. My uncles spoke yesterday and everything is fine. They were both astounded at my investigating skills though!

* The new computer is amazing. I am able to purchase Microsoft Enterprise for $7 at my school since I am an employee there. For those of you who don’t know, Enterprise is the highest suite available from Microsoft; it includes absolutely everything. I’m in love with Vista and 2007.

* The party this weekend went really well and I had a blast. At times I felt like I was the mom of the bad kid at a birthday party (I brought Hunter and he was just being very social and running around like crazy). Everyone loved him though and he slept really well that night!

* I upgraded my Wordpress to 2.7 and love the new look. I like that I no longer have to scroll down to categorize my posts and that a word count is already installed for me! I haven’t had much time to really play around with it though, but maybe tonight.

That’s all that’s going on with me. Oh, Happy Veterans Day! Off to the LSAT prep!

I am still having problems with my Dell laptop. Each technician I talk to gives me different answers to the problems I’m having, they want me to ship my laptop so they can fix it but I cannot be without it due to school, and their customer service/overall phone system STINKS to put it mildly. I am doing my best to be calm and rational whenever I am on the phone with a Dell representative, but honestly, it’s getting more and more difficult to do so.

I added a Wordpress Wall to my sidebar. Use it if you don’t feel like commenting. I like random notes and thoughts, so feel free to add to it.

Also, what do you think about this layout? I wasn’t sure about it at first but now it’s kind of growing on me. I like the wood background and the colors. I hope you do too!

It’s nice and warm here again (high 70s this week). I wore pants to class and couldn’t stop thinking how hot it was. See, cold weather spoils me. There’s no way I was meant to live in Florida, haha.

Tom and I are still trying to look for some discount furniture because there are just some bare areas in the apartment. Being a fresh-out-of-college grad and a still-in-college student, we’re looking at thrift stores. I figure that everything will match one day. Just not right now.

I don’t have class tomorrow but instead have to work on a paper for my Criminal Law class. The paper is based on cases where defendants have used postpartum depression as a defense for murder. I will enjoy writing that paper only because I get to argue the issue and learn about different cases. It’s due on Thursday.

Saturday night my friends got together to watch The Exorcist, which I had never seen before. In the very beginning, the old priest is in Iraq and almost gets hit by a horse cart. That’s when my freaking out behavior began. One of my friends was like, “Are you serious?!” I had a pillow over my face the majority of the time we were watching the movie, and was pretty freaked out until I (finally) fell asleep. Thankfully, though, I was able to push the stuff I had seen (twisting head, demon face, etc.) out of my mind last night. Usually things like that plague me for a few days.

Nothing else is really going on … oh! Hunter went to the dog park again yesterday and did very well again. He’s finally understanding that the other dogs just want to play! and not hurt him. He runs around and loves getting chased. We’re doing better with getting digging under control, but we’re still not sure how to stop it completely. We’re thinking about buying some mulch, but at $2.63/bag at Walmart and needing about 30 bags to mulch the backyard, we have decided to hold off for awhile on that!

I better get going. I’m still waiting for Dell to call back, and then I’ve got to get dinner started, followed by laundry and some LSAT practice. Ciao for now!

My criminal law test went pretty well today. I don’t feel bad about it at all. I should get the grade back tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Totally not worried about it, though.

I have about an hour to study for my Private Security test (which is tomorrow) before I have to hop in the shower and prepare for my LSAT prep class, which is tonight from 6-10p. Then, I’ll probably come home and study a little more before I go to bed around 11. Lately I have not been getting nearly enough sleep, but I kind of enjoy being up a little later and getting more done. I have the rest of my life to sleep – that’s my logic, at least.

The Kentucky game is this weekend and I’m contemplating selling my ticket, but then again I might not, who knows. I kind of don’t want to go so I can just RELAX at home. It’s a 12:30p game, so no tailgating (way too early for alcohol) and I’ll be exhausted and unable to do anything for the rest of the day anyway. I’ll decide after I see where our seats are located in the stadium.

Speaking of tailgating, the LSU game ended up being pretty ridiculous. If there was an award for most drunk during a football game and it came with big football trophies, I can almost guarantee that I’d win it for the last game. I’m not going to go into any more detail, except to say that I am DONE with tequila. It gets you into trouble, that’s for sure.

I’ve still not heard anything from Dell. I can’t exactly say that I’m surprised because the level of service I’ve received in the last week has been anything but satisfactory. I mean yes, my laptop is functional, but if we’re paying for a warranty, things should get fixed not only in a timely manner, but also when Dell promises they will be fixed. I just sent an email off regarding the problem, so we’ll see what happens.

Back to studying for meee :)

At this time of night, I’m usually sound asleep. Unfortunately, though, my new LSAT class has just started and it goes from 6-10pm two nights a week, so I have to come home and finish up any homework after I’ve sat through a four hour class. I’ve got this surge of energy, though, and I hope it keeps up until midnight – it would be GREAT to get a really good night’s sleep AND have a feeling of accomplishment!

The LSAT class started on Sunday morning with a diagnostic test. I scored much higher than I did on my first diagnostic in my last LSAT (and higher than my June LSAT score), so it’s a great starting point. I also felt extremely confident in class tonight because I could answer so many of the questions (even on logic games) easily. I’ve got a lot of homework to do before Sunday for the class, but I’ve certainly got enough time to do it.

Tom and I are talking about going to visit my brother, his wife and kids in Virginia at the beginning of January. We’re currently looking info airfare and I really hope we can find something on the cheap side. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for us to take a trip together.

Speaking of spending money, I had to put another $250 into my car today because my air conditioning quit working a few days ago! Fortunately it was a very quick fix, but it certainly was costly. My car should be in good shape now and not in need of any expensive repairs for quite awhile … keep your fingers crossed for me!

I have been working on eating healthier and doing the WiiFit lately. No, I’m not using diet pills, but I have lost a few pounds. I really enjoy the WiiFit! I think everyone should have one. My favorite game is the Hula Hoop game (and all of the yoga poses… I’m surprised at how balanced I am).

My break from homework is over, which means I need to go back to reading for my book review due on Friday morning. Have a great week!

Gosh, as I’ve gotten older, the years of just flown by. I can’t believe it’s already October! It feels like just yesterday it was September 1. Things are still busy, busy, busy for me. I have definitely decided to retake the LSAT in December. Law school applications for the schools I want to apply to are available sometime after today. I’ve got two papers coming up, along with midterm exams coming up soon. Things are moving so incredibly fast! I checked my degree audit this morning, and after this semester, I’m done. I could graduate in December, but I’m not sure I’m going to do that. I need to still apply for my minor (Business Administration).

I went to see my doctor last week to discuss changing my anxiety medication because I have just been feeling so off lately. She agreed that upping the dose would help, so I started the new dose this morning. Hopefully it helps with my anxiety! With everything going on and graduation looming over my head, I am just feeling kind of scared and nervous.

I have no idea what happened to the Gators this weekend; the game was very depressing to watch. We ended up leaving the game early because … well, it wasn’t pretty. My cousin and her husband came up to the game, so although the game was crappy, we enjoyed spending some time together. Tom’s parents were up (as they are for every home game) and I made them Caramel French Toast for breakfast on Sunday morning. It’s a recipe my mom makes for Christmas morning family gatherings, and it’s ALWAYS a hit. I’ll make sure to post the recipe sometime soon. THEN, my parents visited on their way back from spending the weekend with my stepsister for her birthday. We played bowling on the Wii (my mom’s new addiction), went to dinner, and hung out before they left. I missed them so much – haven’t been home since school started a month ago!

Everything was fine until about 4am Monday morning. I had violent vomiting and diarrhea. I wasn’t sure if it was food poisoning (more likely) or a 24 hour bug or something; needless to say I was on the couch all of Monday. I’m back to normal now, though, thank goodness!

Ooh, I just realized it’s 9:15a, I have to leave in a half hour! I better cut this short. TTFN!

…You’re one hell of a dedicated reader!

On the puppy front: Hunter has adjusted SO WELL to being with us. We haven’t had an accident in several days and after four times of teaching “sit” he already knows the command! He’s fairly good at coming when he is called, and sleeps a lot in the afternoons after he’s been worn out during play time. He’s still pretty afraid of cars and any loud noises outside (ex. last night there was a weed wacker across the street from where we were walking, and he wouldn’t budge for a good 10 minutes). We’re working on the fear, though – not forcing the issue, but slowly making progress. At the vet yesterday, Hunter was an angel (according to Tom). He weighs 18 lbs, has a tiny case of hookworm (apparently pretty common in puppies, but an extremely mild case), and is more like 16 weeks old, not 13 like we thought. He has one more shot and then he’ll be done with puppy shots altogether. We absolutely ADORE him even when he’s misbehaving. I’ve been working with him on biting (when he’s playing he gets a little rough sometimes) and that’s going well. He also met Tom’s mom, sister and nephew last weekend – he LOVED playing with a two year old little boy (who loved playing with the puppy).

On the move front: I turned in the keys to the old apartment yesterday. WHAT A RELIEF. I am so glad to be out of that tiny place. Our apartment now is much bigger, and I’m happy to say that we’re 100% moved in and unpacked. We’ve had maintenance in here fixing the small stuff – they have been very quick and happy to help with whatever we’ve needed. So far, I really like this complex and am pleased with the people working here and the neighbors. There are no noise problems, either!

On the school front: I am almost finished with my ASL 2 class. I have a project due next week along with my SCPI (basically an interview with my professor which will determine my level of proficiency in the language). I am taking ASL 3 in the fall (I think I mentioned this already) and am excited about it! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about law school, the LSAT, etc. etc. I’m thinking about getting my MBA. I’d love to get my MBA and law degree at the same time, so I’m looking into that at the moment. I still need to retake my LSAT, though.

On the family front: My older sister and her daughter came to Florida to visit last week. We had a ton of fun going to theme parks and visiting our aunt and uncle. I also made a birthday cake for her (her birthday was Sunday, the day they left) that she ended up having for breakfast because she liked it so much the night before! I’m hoping we’ll be able to get out and visit them in Texas more often. Time and money are scarce for me right now, but I plan on really making an effort. Family is so important and I’d hate to lose that relationship.

Man, I’m stuffed. A friend and I went out for lunch to catch up (since we haven’t seen each other in forever!) and I ate too much. Now I have to do a little bit of homework and start some laundry before class. Thankfully, I have started to be on a fairly normal work schedule again. The office is pretty happy about that – with everything going on this summer, I’ve been a bit unreliable. Thankfully, though, they understand, and my work doesn’t make it necessary for me to be there at the same time or same day as the previous week.
