Job search? What job search?

The only downside to graduating when I did is the lack of jobs in the area.  I have tried everything I can think of to find a part time job to no avail.  Fortunately, I am getting about 10 hours a week at the law firm that I began working at over spring break, and it seems like the hours will increase even more due to some recent changes there.  I have even searched Craigslist for jobs – a lot of them start out as finance jobs or receptionist jobs, but when I get emailed back it’s a scam.  When I’m pretty desperate for a job, falling victim to scams (after being so excited about a job prospect!) gets pretty frustrating, as you can probably imagine.  Luckily, I do have some paid blogging that I can complete, and I have several survey-taking companies that I’m working for currently.  As long as I can make it through the summer, everything should be fine.

Remind me never to do a registry again…

Let me just be honest with you.  Completing our wedding registries was fun in the beginning, but it has become a very big pain in the butt, for many reasons.  First of all, Tom and I completely disagree on most things – dishes, pots & pans, bedding.  We try to compromise, but he’s stuck on one thing, and I’m stuck on another, so it makes reaching a mutual decision difficult.  Furthermore, it’s hard for us to visualize certain items because we aren’t sure how we want to decorate our house – especially since we don’t know where we’re living yet!  Luckily, there is one thing that we both agree on, and that’s to not put ridiculous items on our registries, like home theater chairs.  I’m sorry, but we won’t have a use for those until I’m working full time and we have a MUCH larger house!

Giveaway 2.0

Be sure to check out Giveaway 1.0 for Mineral Elements by Eden, ending Sunday, May 17.

The next giveaway is for coupons.  For those of you who do not know, I am a coupon fanatic, so usually I wouldn’t be giving these away.  However, I found several copies of coupons that I won’t use, so I’m offering them up to the first commenters on this post who are interested.

The first five people to comment with their favorite breakfast food will receive a coupon for a FREE box of Kashi GoLean Waffles from the frozen section.  You can choose any flavor you like, and Kashi waffles are absolutely delicious.  Please include a valid email address so I can email you for your mailing address.

The next four people who comment with their favorite breakfast food will receive a $1.00 OFF coupon for Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats.  These are not coupons that you will see in the newspaper, so take advantage of this! Please include a valid email address so I can email you for your mailing address.

In both cases, I need your email address to get your contact information.  I will mail these coupons at no charge to you, because this is a giveaway!

Good luck to all who enter!

Are We Ready?

Preparing your financial life when you’re getting married is a little nerve-wracking, at least for me.  My fiance and I have discussed and agreed upon how we’re going to set up our bank accounts.  We still have yet to decide on which bank we’re going to go with, and which credit accounts we will keep and which we will close.  The one thing that is important to me is term life insurance for our eventual children.  Even though we may not be ready to purchase term life insurance (and probably won’t until we have chidren), I still think comparing term life insurance quotes is something we should do relatively soon after being married.  It will give us an idea of the costs associated with term life insurance coverage and how long it will take us to incorporate that into our budget.  So are we ready?  Yes and no.
