Wedding Registry

Tom and I spent the day today running “wedding errands” and getting a couple other things done.  The first stop was at a local jeweler to see if we couldn’t find the perfect wedding bands.  Turns out, we did!  I should have them by the end of next week (in time to show everyone coming up for graduation) and I will be sure to post pictures of it ASAP.  I would just pull an image from online but it just wouldn’t be the same.

Our next stop was Target.  We’ve decided to have two registries (one at Target and the other at Macy’s) to make our wedding gifts affordable for everyone.  It was very exciting to hold that scanner in my hand and know that I could ask for ANYTHING I wanted.  We asked for a lot of kitchen utensils (since the ones I have are from my dorm days and in bad shape), patio furniture, and some basic linens.  After that, we had a quick lunch at BJ’s (which is my new favorite … even though it’s sooo bad for you) and then headed over to Macy’s.  This is where the fun really started!  I found some gorgeous Lenox china with matching stemware.  I really really hope we get that.  We got a bunch of other stuff too, but need to go back and tweak it and add some more things.  I would highly recommend Macy’s for a registry.  There are a lot of perks to registering with them.  Check out their web site for more details.  Honestly, if we threw in a couple of farmhouse sinks, we’d have an entire house worth of stuff on our registry!

Tom and I got back around 6pm (we left at 11:30am!), played around on our computers, and then I got to studying for my final.  I’ve been doing reading on and off all night while Tom plays Super Mario Brothers on the Wii.  We used our Wii points to download it … and are obsessed with it.  We’re staying up until we’ve beaten it, haha.  Thankfully, I’m able to focus on my reading.  Only 20 more pages until I’m done for the night!

Spring is Here!

Well hello there, street people!  Been awhile, hasn’t it?  I have been so incredibly B U S Y that I have kind of forgotten about my website for a little while.  It was a much needed break, though.  Don’t worry, I missed all of you and am back to posting on a regular basis!

Last week was my spring break and I spent it working fulltime at an attorney’s office.  I have been trying to find a job in an attorney’s office for the entire time I’ve been in college, and of course I found it right when I’m on my way out.  I had fun despite the fact that I just did office work for a week.  I filed, answered telephones, sent faxes, and made labels for letters to be mailed out.  It doesn’t matter though, it will look good on my resume.  At the end of the week, the attorney asked me to work every Friday, which will most likely turn into more work after I graduate!  Speaking of law, I haven’t heard back about law school, but I should start to hear back fairly soon.

What else has been going on… the weather!  It is absolutely GORGEOUS!  The azaleas, dog woods and wild plums are in full bloom and our little family is loving it.  Tom was lucky enough to go out on the boat a few times this past weekend, but I was busy doing wedding preparations, so I didn’t.  Hunter went out on the boat for the first time, and just like Remington he loved every minute of it.  We’ve got some great pictures on the hard drive, so I’ll have to get those and show them to you all.

Wedding plans are coming along nicely.  I slightly altered the color – instead of “Wild Orchid” on the David’s Bridal web site, we’re now going with “Lilac.”  The other color is called “Clover.”  The moms have their dresses, and the bridesmaids have at least started to look.  I am going to have three bridesmaids, because of a falling out with one of them.  It’s easier to have three because there won’t be as much drama, but my feelings are hurt because of the way it all went down.  Anyway.

This weekend, we also met with the priest that will be marrying us.  He gave us a book of readings to choose from and information that we will need to set all the music up for the mass.  It was really nice to talk with him.  He has been the monsignor at my church since before I was born, so I have completed all my sacraments under him.  He also married my mom and stepdad in 2003, so he knows the entire family.

Flowers are set.  My bouquet will consist of green and white hydrangeas and freesia, and a single green (very light … almost yellow) rose in the middle.  The rose is significant because my deceased paternal grandfather was a wholesale florist and absolutely loved yellow roses.  Since the yellow won’t match with our colors, we’re going with green.  It’s so beautiful!

We also went to two cake tastings and decided on a cake baker/decorator.  We’re doing a three tier with cornilly lace, and a sheet cake that will be decorated the same.  Very simple yet elegant, which is exactly what we wanted.

In other news … I planted an herb garden yesterday!  I only have four herbs in it because it’s just a small window box – basil, sage, flat leaf parsley and mint.

And, after a two week hiatus from the gym because of my sinus infection and working, I went back last night.  It was a little rough, but I’m going back tomorrow.  They actually demonstrated some safety equipment while I was there, which was kind of strange.  I should have pushed myself to go today, but I didn’t.  Tomorrow I’m going first thing in the morning and doing cardio and strength training.  I got some tips from my soon to be brother-in-law and that will also help jumpstart my weight loss again.

Off to finish the laundry and get ready for bed.  I have gotten back into the habit of reading right before bed again.  I really missed it!

Break Time

My criminal law test went pretty well today.  I don’t feel bad about it at all.  I should get the grade back tonight or tomorrow at the latest.  Totally not worried about it, though.

I have about an hour to study for my Private Security test (which is tomorrow) before I have to hop in the shower and prepare for my LSAT prep class, which is tonight from 6-10p.  Then, I’ll probably come home and study a little more before I go to bed around 11.  Lately I have not been getting nearly enough sleep, but I kind of enjoy being up a little later and getting more done.  I have the rest of my life to sleep – that’s my logic, at least.

The Kentucky game is this weekend and I’m contemplating selling my ticket, but then again I might not, who knows.  I kind of don’t want to go so I can just RELAX at home.  It’s a 12:30p game, so no tailgating (way too early for alcohol) and I’ll be exhausted and unable to do anything for the rest of the day anyway.  I’ll decide after I see where our seats are located in the stadium.

Speaking of tailgating, the LSU game ended up being pretty ridiculous.  If there was an award for most drunk during a football game and it came with big football trophies, I can almost guarantee that I’d win it for the last game.  I’m not going to go into any more detail, except to say that I am DONE with tequila.  It gets you into trouble, that’s for sure.

I’ve still not heard anything from Dell.  I can’t exactly say that I’m surprised because the level of service I’ve received in the last week has been anything but satisfactory.  I mean yes, my laptop is functional, but if we’re paying for a warranty, things should get fixed not only in a timely manner, but also when Dell promises they will be fixed.  I just sent an email off regarding the problem, so we’ll see what happens.

Back to studying for meee :)

Weekend & Wine

Call me a nerd, a loser, or antisocial, but here’s how my ideal night goes: a glass of wine, my favorite music playing, and NO ONE ELSE AROUND. I’m in the computer room surfing and relaxing; Romeo’s peering over at me from his side of the desk. It’s peaceful and quiet and I’m in an awfully good mood. Tonight is a friend’s going away/birthday party, but I’m feeling like I’m starting to catch a cold, so I’m staying in (which is why I’m surprised I’m in such a good mood).

The past few days I have felt absolutely exhausted and I don’t know why.  I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary.  I guess my body really is trying to fight off the cold that hasn’t even begun yet.

I restarted my Sparkpeople weight loss information and printed out the grocery list so I can stick to the recommended meal plans.  That’s something I’ve never taken advantage of.  Most of what was on there seemed delicious, so I don’t think I’ll have a problem.  I also got reacquainted with the Normal Eating Support Group (here) because I’m trying desperately to stop my emotional eating habits.  Things with that are on the up-and-up.

Tomorrow morning I get to sit through two hours of a baptist service for my sign language class.  Hopefully it goes by fast.  I’m bummed that I have to get up early but I can always come home and take a nap.  It’s better than going to Jehovah’s Witness or the Pentecostal church (totally not knocking them, but personally, I can’t stand those services).

I’m going to go curl up with a book.  The thing is, I have no idea which book to read next.  Maybe the Shrink Yourself! book I bought awhile ago.

Keeping Up

*Sigh* I’m bored today.  I woke up, got online, went through my dailes, email etc.  There’s really nothing to pack at this point (with the exception of the last minute stuff).  I just made muffins the other day and don’t want the sweets around because I WILL eat them.  Tom and I are going to play tennis tonight and will probably watch a movie or something after that.  I finished Deception Point and am onto a book written about a murder from back home (my mom had it and gave it to me because I studied the murder trial in high school).  I could’ve gone to work today, but bleh.  I kind of feel like I did a couple summers ago when I was depressed – not feeling like doing anything, bored, sad, and completely unmotivated to get stuff done.

I have been looking for yellow labrador puppies in our area on and off today.  We found a couple purebreds that the guy is offering, so we’ll probably drive down there tomorrow to check them out.  Who knows, maybe we’ll end up with a puppy :) He’s only got boys that are not currently neutered, but Tom’s mom is going to help us out with that.  It’ll be nice to have another addition to our little family!

I’m going to put some dishes away and see if I can’t find some packing that needs to get done around here.  Do you guys have any exciting plans for the weekend?
